Morning Water – a short flip-through, light and unhurried, pale blue and white
Summer Garden – sage green and blooming florals. Warm, full, a little romantic
Feather and Frost – pale blue and white, watercolour feathers, a great deal of quiet space
A year-long journal for practising one thing: noticing beauty.
Twice a week, you stop for a few minutes and write down one beautiful thing you saw, heard, tasted or felt. A shaft of light across the floor. Rain through an open window. A blackbird on a rooftop. A hundred and four small moments, gathered in one book.
That's the whole practice. Small enough to actually keep, which is the only reason it works.
Beauty is a kind of attention, and attention is trained like anything else – by returning. One beautiful moment brightens an afternoon. A year of them changes how you move through your days. But that only happens with repetition, and repetition needs a frame: a page waiting for you, a rhythm already laid out, a place to put it. That's what this journal is.
It isn't a gratitude journal. Gratitude can be hard to reach, and the invitation to be grateful often carries an old sense of obligation. Beauty asks much less of you. You don't have to feel anything in particular. You can simply say: oh, look at that – and keep walking.
Alongside the noticing pages, each season opens into its own invitations – beauty maps, scent pages, small rituals, a listening list, a reading list. Little adventures scattered through the year, there when you want them.
What's inside
✦ 92 pages, moving through all four seasons – begin wherever you happen to open it
✦ 13 noticing pages per season, two moments on each page, twice a week for the whole year
✦ A Beauty Blessing to open the year, and a closing collection of ways to bring beauty into ordinary days
✦ Creative invitations in every season – beauty maps, scent pages, first-signs pages, word gardens, small seasonal rituals
✦ A listening list in spring and autumn, a reading list in summer and winter – each with a starting handful, and room to build your own
✦ Designed for handwriting, and for the kind of slowness that noticing requires
Why a designed journal and not a blank one
You could do this in any notebook. But a blank page asks you to remember the practice, and this one holds it for you – the rhythm already laid out, the seasons already turning, a page waiting each week whether or not you feel inspired.
The invitations are scattered through the year rather than stacked at the front. Some weeks you'll only want the noticing page. Other weeks you'll want to go looking – for a scent, a sound, a plant you visit once a week until you know it. Nothing here is an assignment. They're little adventures, and you take the ones that feel alive.
Three palettes
Feather and Frost – pale blue and white, watercolour feathers, a great deal of quiet space. The lightest of the three.
Summer Garden – sage green and blooming florals. Warm, full, a little romantic.
Linen and Gold – woven linen textures with fine golden line-drawn flowers, soft blue and green.
Formats
Feather and Frost, Summer Garden and Linen and Gold come as ready-to-print PDFs.
