How my Lifebook began
Honestly? I have never quite known how to just live without writing it down.
It started early. I was the child who sewed her own first book down the middle. We didn't have a stapler, so the pages were stitched by hand. A fantastical story about an island of clocks, and the adventure of one alarm clock who found its way there. I read everything I could find. And somewhere in there I fell in love with what a page can hold – how much fits on something so thin and plain. Whole worlds.
I had a wild imagination then. I still do. My head builds places – layered, winding, far more alive than anything I ever manage to get onto paper. That gap used to frustrate me. Now I think it's the whole point.
Because here is what writing has always been for me. A cup of tea, gone warm in my hands. The world going quiet around me, and then, slowly, quiet inside me too. A page. A pen. That's it. The closest thing I know to a holiday, and I never have to leave the room.
I could never keep a plain notebook, though. I tried. It never lasted. I wanted mine beautiful – coloured, decorated, pages I actually longed to come back to. For a long time I couldn't make them look the way they looked in my head, and that bothered me more than it should have. Learning to bring my visions to life, in colour and image, changed something. The book finally started to match the world inside.
And the books I loved were never straight lines. They spiralled. Looped back, circled round, a little playful, making room for whoever showed up that day – the tired part of me, the dreaming part – all the bittersweetness. Come, come, whoever you are. That feeling. A book that lets all of you in.
I made the first one for myself. Then for a dear friend, because I wanted her to have that soft place to land too. That's really where Inner Garden began. Quietly. As a gift.
What I make is only ever one layer. One version. The seasons, the spaces, the gentle prompts. But the moment you begin to fill it, it becomes something I could never make alone. Your worlds. Your memories. Your dreams, your handwriting, the small beautiful things only you would think to keep. We are all so different, carry such different lives – and that is exactly what makes each book unrepeatable. I give one dimension. You make it multidimensional. A living story, growing as you do.
The seasons came in on their own, really. I grew up in a small place in Estonia. Summer's green abundance. Then autumn, the letting go, the leaves falling into winter's long quiet, so something new can wake again in spring. Living close to that teaches you – the beauty of seasons, of nature's soft, effortless way of letting life happen. A Lifebook is not a book you finish. It's one you live alongside. A handmade home for your inner world, filled slowly, growing the way a garden grows.
And if you've ever wanted a quiet hour, a warm cup, and a beautiful page to come home to – I think you already understand.
Come in. The gate is open.
